Hello fellow hoodies! Welcome to my website. I have created a special page just for you because the Air Conditioning systems in the hood are very special. I believe that the quality of our homes is quite good. We have block construction, pavers for driveways, and pretty solid houses. I wish I could say the same thing about the A/C systems in here. The overall design of the duct work, Freon line runs, and drain lines is absolutely atrocious! Due to my training at the National Comfort Institute, I have extensive knowledge of duct design, and unfortunately the duct design here is horrible. It is typical for builders that build track homes like ours to skimp on the A/C systems and duct work. Due to the poor duct design, we are experiencing hot and cold spots, rooms that are too hot or too cold, and high humidity. When I first moved into my Saint Bart, I was frustrated because I just bought this brand new home, and I couldn’t sleep because my bedroom is way too hot! I solved the problem by splitting my duct work into three separate zones. Zone 1, the primary bedroom. I have a thermostat in my bedroom that controls just that room. I can now sleep at a crispy 66 degrees! Zone 2 is the living space, and zone 3 is the other bedrooms and the office. Each zone has its own thermostat.
The other nightmare you may face is that the Freon lines and the drain line are run through a 4” pipe under the house through the slab. (Totally insane!!) Of course this was not done properly, so many hoodies are experiencing Freon leaks in the lines running under the house, along with constant drain clogging. You may have been told to put vinegar and hot water in the drain monthly or quarterly and suck out the line with a wet vac. Don’t waste your time and money! This does nothing on these drain lines. If you are going to put anything in the drain line, it needs to be bleach or Drano. Better yet, have me come out at least annually to do your tune-up, which includes my drain line service. We blast the lines out with 300psi and then follow up with a drain flush that will remove everything from your drain line that shouldn’t be in there. I guarantee no clogs for one year, or we come back and clear it again for free. If you have any questions about your system, just give me a call.
